Dr. Haines Paik, MD, is a Board Certified, Fellowship-trained Trauma and Total Joint Surgeon. With a wealth of experience in orthopaedic surgery and a strong commitment to patient centered care, he’s excited to bring his expertise to Crovetti Orthopaedics and Sports Medicine.

Growing up in Chicago, Dr. Haines Paik spent much of his life traveling the world—an inevitable outcome when you follow in your father’s army footsteps. His parents, Asian immigrants, always encouraged him to pursue success, supporting him in whatever path he chose. Ultimately, Haines followed a logical route, spending 14 years in the army while building an impressive medical career along the way.

He embarked on an accelerated 6-year degree program at the University of Kansas City-Missouri School of Medicine, earning both his undergraduate degree (Magna Cum Laude) and Medical Degree (Cum Laude). He then completed his Orthopaedic Surgical Internship and Residency at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center, followed by an Orthopaedic Research Fellowship there. To top it off, he completed a Fellowship in Adult Reconstructive Surgery at New England Baptist Hospital and Tufts University School of Medicine in Boston, MA.

With his army and educational career on parallel tracks, he served in multiple locations across the U.S. and deployed with the 250th and 126th Forward Surgical Teams to Iraq and Afghanistan. But perhaps the most significant encounter was meeting his fiancée, Kathryn (‘Kat’), during one of those deployments.

Kat, an OR nurse, was stationed in Germany while Haines was in Washington state. After a year apart, despite the distance, they made it a point to meet every 6-8 weeks, exploring Europe together one adventure at a time. Once her overseas tour ended, Kat requested to be stationed in Washington, too. (Spoiler: The happy ending is in the works.)

All that is to say that Dr. Paik joins the team at Crovetti Ortho with a considerable amount of life and medical experience.

Central to his practice is a deeply ingrained concern for patient care. ‘In the military, there were no time limits when it came to patient care—you simply spent as long as it took,’ Dr. Paik explains. ‘I’ve carried that philosophy with me, because to me, time with patients is just as essential as my surgical skill.

Since his separation from the Army in 2020, and now in his 10th year of practice, he has gained expertise in his field from Washington to Florida and at waystations between. But searching for just the right fit to put down roots and build a successful practice hasn’t been as easy. He just hadn’t found that special mix he felt was waiting for him. Until Crovetti Orthopaedics.

“You see, you have to look at everything surrounding a job,” is how Dr. Paik explains it. “That includes not only the position and the place and people you work with. But the area, the type of community, its proximity to other places you want to be near, even the food. It’s a delicate blend. And nothing ever felt quite right, until a small, nondescript job advertisement showed up in my LinkedIn account for Crovetti Ortho…and I began to follow that breadcrumb to what I believe to be the perfect place for both Kat and me.”

Having explored all he could about Crovetti Ortho, met Dr. Crovetti, met his surgical team and his staff, shadowed surgeries, and matched up both his medical and personal ethics with what he had learned, the final decision was a no-brainer. Why?

Easy. You see, he had already been in love with Las Vegas for decades. He’s been here so many times that he laughs, “I don’t even need to drive on the Strip when I’m here. And I know where all the best local restaurants are, too!” (He and Kat are both a bit of Foodies.)

Now that he’s found the perfect place to call home and begin immersing himself in this fantastic community, it won’t be long before Dr. Paik and Kat are settled in—and off on their next adventure.
