Dual Board Certified in Foot and Ankle Surgery, Dr. Casey Burchill, DPM FACFAS Joins Southern Nevada’s Crovetti Orthopaedics and Sports Medicine
Dr. Michael Crovetti, Jr., DO, founder of Crovetti Orthopaedics and Sports Medicine, is pleased to welcome Dr. Casey Burchill, DPM FACFAS to his surgical team. An experienced foot and ankle specialist, Dr. Burchill specializes in the evaluation and treatment of orthopaedic injuries and conditions that affect these areas.
“As I was considering expanding my practice, I learned that Dr. Crovetti was seeking a physician-surgeon with my specific skill set,” says Dr. Burchill. “After meeting and discussing the opportunity and the underlying philosophy of Crovetti Ortho – one that is consistent with my own, of finding the best solutions for each patient – it was clear we shared the same values, passion for patient care, and a deep desire to help our patients get “back in their game.” Whether that means getting back to their sport or simply improving their daily lives, we both want to help our patients achieve their goals.”
His passion for foot and ankle medicine stems from personal experience. Once the second-fastest runner in Arizona State University history and a qualifier for the 2008 U.S. Olympic Track and Field Trials, Dr. Burchill’s dreams of Olympic glory were halted by a foot injury during a backpacking trip.
That injury became a pivotal moment. Redirecting his planned medical career, he pursued a podiatric specialty—now helping others get back on their feet, just as he once had to do himself.
Board Certified in both Reconstructive Rearfoot and Ankle Surgery and Forefoot Surgery, Dr. Burchill’s patients seek his aid with rearfoot and ankle reconstruction and trauma, complex foot, ankle, and leg deformities, ankle fusion, metatarsal fractures, lateral ankle surgery, and many other conditions for which he is uniquely qualified through intensive medical training in his specialties at highly respected medical universities.
This includes a three-year residency in podiatric surgery at the prestigious Emory University, Department of Orthopedics through The Emory Program – the nation’s first three-year surgical residency for podiatrists, with emphasis in rearfoot and ankle reconstruction and trauma. He graduated this program as Primary Chief Resident, and became faculty member of the residency’s educational arm, The Podiatry Institute.
Since its inception in 1969, this program has been recognized as the premier training residency for foot and ankle reconstructive surgery. And as a faculty member, Dr. Burchill actively lectures across the country as well as serves as an instructor for surgical skills courses, teaching other podiatric surgeons.
Prior to his residency, he earned his Doctor of Pediatric Medicine at Rosalind Franklin University of Medicine and Science in North Chicago, Illinois. And he obtained his undergraduate degree at Arizona State University on a full Track & Field scholarship, majoring in Kinesiology with an emphasis in Biomechanics, along with a partial scholarship to the University of Colorado in Boulder.
Choosing Las Vegas to begin his practice of medicine, Dr. Burchill has gained experience in both private practice and as Foot and Ankle Trauma and Reconstructive Surgeon at Sunrise Hospital’s Level 1 Trauma Center.
To Dr. Burchill, joining Crovetti Ortho was a natural next step – not only to work alongside Dr. Crovetti, but to offer his patients access to the practice’s unique private surgery and recovery centers.
Dr. Casey Burchill’s patient care philosophy is rooted in partnership and collaborating with them on their path to healing. Explaining to them that “This isn’t going to work if I care more about your foot than you do,” and helping them set realistic goals based on their condition. “I celebrate every milestone they achieve, because I know what hard work it is. And the best thing in the world to me is seeing my patients recovering – getting rid of the crutches and walking again – so they are able to enjoy their lives to the fullest,” he explains.
“I’m certain that the addition of Dr. Burchill to the Crovetti Ortho team will benefit our patients, our practice, and the community,” states Dr. Michael Crovetti. “His combination of expertise and dedication to patient care furthers the Crovetti Ortho commitment to excellence. Welcome aboard, Dr. Burchill!
