If there’s one thing to say about Dr. Dennis Jackson — Crovetti Ortho’s own Non-Operating Orthopedic and Emergency Medicine Physician — it’s that he sets big goals… and meets them. Every time. Whether professional or personal, Dr. Jackson is a man of action who’s already accomplished a great deal.

Originally from the small town of Marcellus, Michigan, Dr. Jackson grew up in a household where medicine was woven into everyday life. His father was an Internal Medicine doctor at the local hospital, and his mother was a Nurse. Dinnertime conversations often revolved around patient care and the importance of giving back — a value that left a lasting impression.

He fondly recalls their Saturdays at church with the family, where parishioners frequently approached his father for medical advice. Never bothered, his father always responded with kindness – a quiet act of generosity that left a lasting impression on Dr. Jackson and shaped his own understanding of service and compassion.

Dr. Jackson earned his Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Sciences from Central Michigan University, then attended Wayne State University School of Medicine in Detroit, where he earned his M.D. He found that he had developed a strong interest in Emergency Medicine, and chose to complete his residency at Henry Ford Hospital. He then went on to complete a Primary Care Sports Medicine Fellowship at the University of Utah in Salt Lake City.

It was during this fellowship that he discovered his passion for Orthopedic Medicine. He had the opportunity to work with athletes at every level — from high school and college to professional teams — in sports ranging from skiing, basketball, football and  hockey, to gymnastics, lacrosse, volleyball, and UFC. (Just for starters.)

What makes Dr. Jackson uniquely qualified to join Crovetti Orthopaedics is the combination of Emergency and Sports Medicine training — two specialties that blend perfectly to support active patients through both injuries and recovery. But he believes one of his most valuable lessons came before any of that, when his mother encouraged him to become a Certified Nursing Assistant. That early hands-on experience taught him something he’s carried throughout his career: the importance of an exceptional bedside manner.

It is a quality that, to this day, continues to shape his approach to patient care. Patients, colleagues, and mentors alike have long recognized it as a defining strength, and it’s a distinction he carries into his daily practice with humility and purpose.

Now, Dr. Jackson is excited to join the Crovetti Ortho team where he can build lasting relationships with patients over time — something not always possible in the Emergency Department. That emergency experience, however, has been invaluable. From trauma care to musculoskeletal injuries, it has given him deep insight into what patients go through at the time injuries take place — both in the moment and in the months that follow.

Throughout his career, Dr. Jackson has served in supervisory physician roles across diverse settings: from university hospitals and high-end ski resorts, to Detroit Emergency Rooms and rural medical facilities in multiple states. His emergency medicine experience spans a wide range of traumas, including those involved with orthopaedic injuries.

As is often the case, Dr. Jackson crossed paths with Dr. Michael Crovetti at just the right time. Their shared vision and values made it clear that this partnership was the right fit – at the right time. He’s also looking forward to continuing his love of teaching and working with local sports teams — from elementary schools on up to the pros.

When he’s not seeing patients, Dr. Jackson enjoys staying active and outdoors as much as possible. A lifelong sports fan and former athlete himself, he grew up playing basketball — and also remains a loyal Detroit Lions fan to this day (much to his father’s joy!). The time he spent in Utah inspired a new enthusiasm for skiing, and he also enjoys camping, horseback riding, and exploring the outdoors when he can. He’s also an avid traveler who makes a point to catch live sports and concerts wherever he goes. (Did we mention he likes to stay active?)
