Las Vegas Valley Pain Physician Helps Eliminate Pain without Drugs or Surgery

Tomas J. Kucera, M.D., M.S. Offers Non-Narcotic Pain Relief at Crovetti Orthopaedics

In Western medicine, it’s long been a common belief that the only real way to find pain relief requires either a long-term drug regimen or surgery. That perception has been changing over the past several years within the medical community by the development of alternative medical pain interventions.

However, the media and public focus on the hazards of opioid pain medication – while aiding in identifying a major health crisis – has, unfortunately, created an opposing tragic result:  People in serious pain are avoiding doctors out of fear of addiction – in many cases at the risk of their health and ability to function.

To be fair, patients have a good reason for those fears, as historically, that’s often been the case. But today there are many interventional treatments that have proven very successful in alleviating and managing pain levels – ones that allow people to avoid those often-feared solutions.

“Before coming to see me, most of my patients have been living with long-term chronic pain that has already affected their lifestyle and mobility,” explains Dr. Tomas J. Kucera. “But out of fear of being treated with drugs or wanting to avoid surgery, they often choose to just suffer in silence.”

The truth is, by working with the right doctor – one with the knowledge, training, and experience of Dr. Tomas J. Kucera – patients are increasingly discovering non-narcotic and non-surgical pain relief alternatives. The common refrain of “Why didn’t I come to see you sooner?” is often shared by patients who discover that today, they have choices in how to treat their condition.

Dr. Kucera has spent his career in the pursuit of non-narcotic pain control methods to alleviate severe discomfort. His goal is to properly diagnose each patient’s pain stimulator, educate about treatment recommendations, and help them set realistic expectations for results. Treatments may include physical therapy, nerve blocks, nerve ablation (Radiofrequency Ablation), epidural steroid injections, spinal manipulation, and more, depending on the source of the pain.

“Most importantly, I strongly believe that to make any progress at all it requires creating a trusting relationship with each patient. I take the time to listen to their experience and the history of their pain. Then I’m clear, honest and direct in discussing our mutual goals in achieving the most successful outcome. While it’s true that not all pain can be completely eliminated, it can often be managed to a livable degree. And if the ultimate solution does turn out to be surgery, it’s with the knowledge that all other paths have been explored.

“However, the media and public focus on the hazards of opioid pain medication has, unfortunately, created an opposing tragic result:  People in serious pain are avoiding doctors out of fear of addiction – in many cases at the risk of their health and ability to function.”

In Dr. Kucera’s experience, there has been a disconnect between understanding pain relief options and avoiding pain pill addiction due to recent advances in this field of medicine. But while most people have expectations of doctors based on their past experience, they immediately notice a difference when they are referred by family and friends to visit Dr. Kucera for pain relief.

“They’re pleased to discover I seek solutions to pain without pills – which is a relatively new specialty. I diagnose and guide personalized treatments for each patient based on their individual situation. That can include a combination of complementary treatments, along with ongoing monitoring to assess progress and/or to tweak their program for better results. It’s a much more involved process than just handing out prescriptions. It’s a way to find real solutions designed to improve pain levels and return patients to a better, healthier life.”
