Hip and Knee replacement are preformed with metal and plastic. Typically this is titanium or cobalt chrome. You can expect it, at the airport, to set off the alarms. My advice is to let the attendant know, or the security officer, that you have had a joint replacement, prior to even getting embarrassed by the alarm.
